Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 Onboard German Navy
The navigational suite for almost 100 ships will consist of Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS, (U)AIS-Transponders of Saab Transpondertech AB and navigational ARPA Radars, supplied by Sperry Marine BV.
The contract to equip all the German Navy ships has been awarded to a group of companies led by ET Marinesysteme GmbH as prime contractor, an equally shared joint venture between EADS and Thales, against strong international tender competition. Commercial and technical evaluation led to a final contract, raised by the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB), which was signed in September 2005 for the system supply to start later this year and to be completed in 2009.
Transas Europe will act as a major system supplier and will deliver its Navi-Sailor 3000 series with specific requested naval features including AML (Additional Military Layers), AIS Transponders with Secure Link capabilities, as well as thorough technical support and training package to its prime. The Navi-Sailor 3000 Systems comprising Radar-Overlay and enhanced AIS control capabilities will be installed fleet-wide in newly designed multi-functional workstation consoles. This will ensure IMO compliancy of the fleet and apply the latest navigational techniques and awareness for the naval operators.
